The Mount Vernon Company recently purchased 1200 Soldiers Field Road as its new corporate headquarters. Purchased for $3.8M from Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, the building consists of approximately 19,000 SF and 38 underground parking spaces. It resides directly on Soldiers Field Road at the intersection of Everett Street. Frank Petz of Jones Lang LaSalle brokered the transaction on behalf of Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation.
The Mount Vernon Company will occupy approximately 1/3 of the building and will lease the remainder to outside businesses. First, however, Mount Vernon plans to renovate the building to bring it up to Class A office standard. Further, it plans to add extra amenities that coincide with the company’s commitment to the environment, “Consistent with our philosophy, we are adding solar roof panels, electric car charging stations, and dedicated bike parking in the garage,” noted Bruce Percelay, Chairman of The Mount Vernon Company.
The location could not be more convenient for Mount Vernon, as it is currently developing a 132 unit apartment building down the street at the intersection of Western Avenue and Leo Birmingham Parkway. The company is also one of the major players in the Allston / Brighton market. This move enhances its strong connection to the neighborhood, according to Percelay, “Having our company’s headquarters in Allston is a testimony to our belief and commitment to this area as we continue to expand our footprint in this market.”
Given the easy access to Cambridge, Harvard University, Downtown Boston, and Watertown, along with the completion of the nearby New Balance headquarters and Boston Landing MBTA station, the convenience of the area has brought on a hotbed of mixed-use development projects over the past few years.
