The approaching holiday season may have you wondering where you should book your next getaway. Before planning a New England vacation, take note of the region’s top hotels, courtesy of Condé Nast Traveler. The magazine ranked the best places to stay in Boston and New England as a whole based on feedback from its readers.
The Condé Nast Traveler 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards ranked Nantucket’s 76 Main the best hotel in New England and Back Bay’s Mandarin Oriental the best hotel in Boston. Mandarin Oriental beat out the award-winning XV Beacon and renowned Hotel Commonwealth for the top Boston ranking while 76 Main stood out amongst New England contenders such as the Harraseeket Inn in Maine and Hotel Vermont.
76 Main boasts that “home away from home” feel with interiors designed to resemble the aesthetic of a collector. Both the common areas and rooms were designed by Boston-based Rachel Reider Interiors. To honor the seaside style of Nantucket, the hotel’s 20 rooms are decorated with objects and gallery art found in town.
The Mandarin Oriental “combines classic New England elegance with refined oriental touches,” according to the hotel, to create one-of-a-kind experiences. Condé Nast Traveler highlights the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Bar Boulud, as a swanky dining option. The French-style bistro and wine bar offers French and American dishes complimented by a wine cellar specializing in Burgundy and Rhone Valley options.
To determine the winners this year, more than 300,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted their preferences for the Readers’ Choice Awards annual survey. It looks like New Englanders and Bostonians can agree that these hotels are must-stays. You can peep the rest of the winners here.
