In the latest measure of Boston’s white hot real estate market, a cluster of apartment buildings in Allston is being sold for one of the highest prices ever for a multifamily property in the city.

Located in the center of Nantucket Town, the fanciful blue and red Victorian façade of 21 Broad St. stands out amid the area’s stately white Federals. Capped with a mansard roof and embellished with ornamental white trim, it was built in 1872.

A Boston real estate firm has purchased a South End hostel and plans to redevelop the property as a college dormitory or a modern boutique hotel that would cater to young business travelers.

BOSTON—The Mount Vernon Co., among metropolitan Boston’s most active CRE investors and best known for creating a mixed-use oasis in Allston, has bought a hotel and multifamily building at 40 Berkeley St. in a revamped YWCA dormitory adjacent to the John Hancock Tower.
